Kartik kumar md

Dr. Kartik Kumar, MD

Dr. Kumar specializes in all areas of pediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus, amblyopia, eyelid ptosis, and cataracts.

Kartik Kumar, MD, joins us after serving as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX.

Dr. Kumar graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with a biochemistry concentration and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology. He completed his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center, serving as chief resident.

Dr. Kumar pursued a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He spent 4 years as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Strabismus at UTHealth in Houston, where he was awarded the Dean’s Teaching Award and was selected as the Teacher of the Year by the ophthalmology residents.

Dr. Kumar has numerous publications and was noted to be one of Houston’s magazines “Top Docs” in ophthalmology and is board certified in Ophthalmology.

His research interests include visual development, amblyopia, and the treatment of strabismus. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS).

Dr. Kumar was featured on the TLC show, OutDaughtered, and performed strabismus surgery on one of the quintuplets, Hazel.

Dr. Kumar enjoys traveling, watching and playing sports, and spending time with his wife and three children in his spare time.

Dr anastasia alex

Dr. Anastasia Alex, MD

Dr. Alex specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery.

Anastasia Alex, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgery.

She was born and raised in Cleveland, OH, and moved to Texas to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering at Rice University in Houston. She attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, OH where she graduated alongside her husband, AJ.

She completed her internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI and ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH, where she was awarded the Golden Bowtie Award for Humanism.

She completed her pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston, SC.Dr. Alex is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

In her spare time she enjoys playing with her child in addition to trying new restaurants and playing games with her family and friends.

Dr. Trisha Emborgo, DO

Dr. Emborgo specializes in all areas of pediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus, amblyopia, glaucoma, and cataracts.

Dr. Emborgo provides both medical and surgical management of all pediatric eye disorders and adults with strabismus (misaligned eyes). She is highly experienced in the treatment of pediatric anterior segment diseases (i.e. pediatric cataracts, pediatric lens disorders, and pediatric glaucoma), complex adult strabismus and childhood strabismus, amblyopia, trauma, congenital nasolacrimal duct obstructions, retinopathy of prematurity, glasses, eye infections, and ptosis.

Dr. Trisha Emborgo is a board-certified fellowship-trained physician in pediatric-ophthalmology and strabismus. She attended medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. She continued her medical training with an internship and ophthalmology residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in New York City, in which she served as Chief Resident during her final year. She completed her pediatric-ophthalmology and adult strabismus fellowship at the prestigious Duke Eye Center (Duke University Medical Center) in Durham, North Carolina. During her time at Duke, she served as a clinical associate and was actively involved in training ophthalmology residents, particularly in pediatric eye care and ocular trauma. Dr. Emborgo believes caring for a child with an eye condition involves supporting the entire family, and she is committed to providing compassionate, family-centered care.

Dr. Emborgo has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at national conferences. She was awarded as a research fellow finalist at the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Conference for her podium presentation on “Longitudinal Monitoring of Pediatric Anterior Pathway Compression Diseases Using Virtual Reality Visual Field Testing". She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society. In addition to English, she is fluent in Tagalog.

Dr. Emborgo and her husband are delighted to return to Texas to be closer to family. Outside of work, she enjoys practicing hot yoga, attending spin classes, and cherishing quality time with her husband and their perfectly mustached black tuxedo cat, Misu.

Dr colleen walters od

M. Colleen Walters, OD

Dr. Walters conducts comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, and has a special interest in strabismus.

Dr. Walters specializes in comprehensive eye care and contacts lens fittings. She has a special interest in pediatric and strabismus care.

M. Colleen Walters, OD is a Therapeutic Optometrist practing in Irving and Arlington, Texas. She graduated from University of Houston College of Optometry in 1987. She completed an externship with a retinal ophthalmologist at University of Texas Medical School in Houston Texas.

After graduation, Dr. Walters practiced in a multi-disciplinary HMO in the Houston for a year before moving to the Dallas-Ft Worth area. She maintained a private practice in Farmers Branch before joining Everett Moody, MD,  a Pediatric /Strabismus specialist in 1996.

Dr. Walters currently has developed a large pediatric base providing routine care for all ages with an emphasis in pediatric and strabismus patient care. She also treats most all of the contact lens patients in the present practice – both routine and myopic management contact lens fittings.

Dr. Walters and her husband, a Clinical Chiropractic Professor at Parker University have three successful adult children and two precious grandchildren that they love spending time with. Additionally she loves travel, gardening and cooking.

She has been active in the Irving area community and church for over 30 years.

Hana

Dr. Hana Alsoudi, OD

Dr. Alsoudi conducts comprehensive eye exams, contact lens exams, and has a special interest in ambyopia, strabismus, slowing myopia progression.

Dr. Hana Alsoudi is a dedicated therapeutic optometrist with a background in comprehensive and pediatric vision care, myopia management, and ocular disease. She earned her Doctor of
Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she received rigorous
clinical training in the diagnosis and management of amblyopia, strabismus, and contact lens fitting.

Before pursuing optometry, Dr. Alsoudi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Wichita State University. Fluent in both English and Arabic, she values building meaningful connections with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Dr. Alsoudi’s path to optometry is rooted in years of healthcare service, including work with underserved and rural communities. She has provided care in a variety of settings—from community clinics to hospital systems—and is especially passionate about early intervention and patient education. Her approach emphasizes empathy, collaboration, and empowerment—ensuring that patients and families feel supported at every stage of their visual health journey.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Alsoudi enjoys traveling with her husband, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and capturing special moments through photography.
